According to the story of Mr. Ukat Sukatma who is an elder in the Sindang Barang Cultural Village. The origin of the name sindang barang began at the time of the bubat war, namely the war that occurred between the kingdom of Sunda Galuh and the Majapahit kingdom

As told in historical books, at that time the king of the Galuh kingdom went to visit the Majapahit Kingdom for the purpose of the engagement of the sons and daughters of the two kingdoms.

However, due to a misunderstanding, the entourage of the Galuh kingdom was attacked and finished off all of the troops from the Majapahit kingdom. Of course this caused the relationship between the two kingdoms to heat up and tenuous.

Among the elders of the Sundanese kingdom some even swore an oath so that the children of the Galuh royal descendants would never again have any relationship with the descendants of the Majapahit kingdom.

With all efforts, the Majapahit kingdom tried to re-establish good relations with the Galuh kingdom. And over time, finally the relationship between the two kingdoms began to improve.

However, it turns out that one of the crown princesses still holds a grudge against the Majapahit and does not accept that the Galuh kingdom reconciles with the Majapahit Kingdom.

Because of that, the princess left the Galuh royal palace and settled at the foot of Mount Salak, finally the princess gave the name of the area sindang barang.

According to the Sundanese Buhun language, sindang means to go or stop. Meanwhile, the word goods can be interpreted as all matters. Since then, the name Sindang Barang has been used until today.
